Nicki & Dylan

These yogis have been together for 3.5 years and it was only fitting that they met a yoga studio they were teaching at in Nashville. Upon meeting and learning more about each other and their common interests, they have been hooked ever since. Throughout their years together they’ve grown even closer, and yoga has even helped them not only with their relationship but with learning about themselves and connecting with other people on a deeper level. During this interview, we could tell how grounded both of them were which made for a really great conversation.

What is your favorite thing about your partner?

Dylan: “Definitely her smile and her laugh.”

Nicki: “He’s so laid back. Nothing matters too much in the best way possible!”

What was the best Valentine’s Day (or date) you had as a couple?

Nicki: “It was actually like an anti-Valentine’s Day date, which is so ironic for the shoot!”

Nicki: “We've been determined throughout our relationship to spend as much time at the beach together as possible! One of our first vacation trips together we basically went broke going to Aruba for a yoga retreat. We loved that so much that about a year later, we sold a bunch of belongings so we could move to Maui together and experience island life for a while.”

Dylan: “Yeah, there's nothing more relaxing than sitting on a south Maui beach, beer in hand, watching the sunset with the one you love...then walking two blocks to get home!”

What was the worst Valentine’s Day (or date) you had as a couple?

Nicki: “One time [while living in Hawaii] we went camping on a volcano. We had everything set up by sunset and thought it would be so cool to have a picnic, but then it started sprinkling...and then it started pouring down rain.”

Dylan: “We either had to sleep in the car or pack everything up and drive home.”

Needless to say, that date did not go the way they planned. So, note to self: as much fun as it sounds to camp on a Volcano in Hawaii, it rains very often so be prepared.

Is there anything you were worried about before submitting yourselves to be apart of this campaign? What advice would you give to someone who may feel uncomfortable in their own skin?

Nicki: “No hesitation at all, I’m used to being in front of people as a yoga teacher. But if I was in my mid-20’s I would've been terrified. During that time I placed so many expectations physically thinking I had to be a certain way in order to fit into a specific mold.”

Dylan: “There’s no one perfect body type...worrying won’t make you feel any better. People should be more focused on enjoying life than focusing on how they look.”

Yoga has definitely been life changing for these two, not just physically but allowing them to learn what it takes to let go of hardships, love one another, and themselves.

Any advice to singles?

Dylan: “[insert explicit word] Valentine’s Day!”

Nicki: “The day is what you make it.”

As long as you are with someone you love, relationship or not, it doesn’t matter what the day consists of. Don’t sweat this one day out of the year if you’re not doing something extravagant, just enjoy your time with amazing people.
